Cumbre Tajín

Cumbre Tajín takes place each year in Papantla, in the Mexican state of Veracruz, around the El Tajín archaeological site and the Takilhsukut theme park. Launched in 2000 near the spring equinox, it combines mainstream concerts (pop, rock, Latin music) with Totonac rituals, dances and ceremonies, including the well known Voladores flying-pole ritual. What sets it apart is this blend of a major music lineup with a living celebration of indigenous heritage inside a UNESCO-listed archaeological setting.
