Danube Island Festival

The Donauinselfest takes place every summer on the Donauinsel, an artificial island in the Danube running through central Vienna. Started in 1983 as a local politician's neighborhood party, it grew into one of the largest free open-air festivals in the world, with around a dozen stages spread across several kilometers and a program mixing music, cabaret and sports activities.
