Overview
About
Founded in 1920 by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Max Reinhardt and Richard Strauss, the Salzburg Festival runs each summer for five to six weeks through the baroque heart of the city, around the cathedral square, the Hofstallgasse and the banks of the Salzach. It brings together opera, theatre and classical music, built around Mozart as its guiding figure, performed by internationally renowned orchestras and soloists.
