Vilar de Mouros

The Vilar de Mouros Festival takes place in the village of the same name, in the Minho region near Caminha in northern Portugal. Founded in 1965 as a gathering for traditional folk music from Minho and Galicia, it turned toward rock by the late 1960s, with its 1971 edition remembered as the "Portuguese Woodstock." The oldest rock festival on the Iberian Peninsula, it went through several hiatuses before being revived on a lasting basis from 2016 onward.
