Canterbury Folk Festival

Held every Easter weekend at the Waipara Adventure Centre in Amberley, in the wine country of North Canterbury just north of Christchurch, this folk festival has run since 1976. Its lineup ranges across Celtic, bluegrass, indie folk, waiata and world music, with workshops, open mic sessions and informal jamming filling out the program. It has a strongly family oriented, community feel, with on site camping and plenty of room for attendees to join in playing rather than just watch.
