Carnaval de Limoux

Rooted since 1604 in the tradition of local millers, the Carnaval de Limoux takes place every weekend under the medieval arcades of the Place de la République. About twenty costumed troupes parade there to trumpets and clarinets, in morning, afternoon and torchlit outings. Spread over several months between Christmas and Holy Week, it is listed on France's intangible cultural heritage inventory since 2012.
