Carthage International Festival

This festival runs every summer in Carthage, Tunisia, in the UNESCO-listed Roman amphitheatre overlooking the Gulf of Tunis. Founded in the early 1960s as a jazz festival before being taken over by the Ministry of Culture in 1964, it has grown into the country's flagship summer cultural event, blending Tunisian and Arabic song, traditional malouf music, jazz, world music, and occasionally rock. It ranks among Africa's oldest music festivals and has hosted major names in Arabic and French song over the decades.
