Castle Rock Festival takes place in the courtyard of Broich Castle, a fortress dating back to the 9th century, in Mülheim an der Ruhr. Launched in 2000, it draws around 1,500 people over two days for gothic rock, darkwave and metal, with acts such as Crematory and Subway to Sally on past bills. The 2026 edition is billed as its final one.
