Chembai Sangeetholsavam

Organised by the Guruvayur Devaswom at the Guruvayur temple in Kerala, the Chembai Sangeetholsavam has honoured the memory of Carnatic vocalist Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar since 1910. The festival runs for twelve to fifteen days and draws as many as several thousand musicians, from children to seasoned performers, all invited to take the stage regardless of standing. It closes on Guruvayur Ekadasi day with a collective singing of Chembai's favourite songs and Tyagaraja's Pancharatna Kritis.
