Chervona Ruta

Chervona Ruta is a Ukrainian festival of contemporary song and popular music that began in 1989 in Chernivtsi and has since been held every two years across the country, with recent finals staged in Lviv. A historic launchpad for young talent, it marked a turning point in Ukrainian musical culture by giving rise to a new popular scene. Attendance at the festival's events remains free, in keeping with its firmly non-commercial spirit.
