Concursos de Max Glücksmann

These tango competitions, organized by producer Max Glucksmann's Nacional record label, were held in Buenos Aires and Montevideo during the 1920s, with two Montevideo editions in 1927 and 1928. Unpublished works by aspiring composers were performed live by orchestras, and audiences voted by ballot to advance contestants through successive rounds to a final. The contests helped launch several composers and songwriters who became central figures of tango's golden age.
