D-CAF - Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival

D-CAF runs each spring across several venues in downtown Cairo, Egypt, and has taken place since its founding in 2012, a year after the 25 January revolution. The multidisciplinary festival mixes theatre, dance, concerts and visual arts, with a program geared toward Egypt's independent and alternative scene alongside international acts. It stands out for its setting in historic downtown Cairo and its aim of challenging conventional performance formats.
