About
Dong Open Air is held every summer on the Dongberg, a former slag heap from the Niederberg colliery reshaped into a 100-metre artificial hill with sweeping views over the Lower Rhine plain, in Neukirchen-Vluyn, Germany. Founded in the late 1990s, it is one of Germany's oldest still-running metal festivals, run non-commercially by an association that relies heavily on volunteers. Over three days it draws around 4,000 metal and rock fans for a lineup of roughly thirty bands.
