About
Founded in 1951, the Marlboro Music festival takes place each summer in Vermont on the Marlboro College campus, as a weeks long retreat bringing together young musicians and seasoned performers around chamber music. There is no fixed program: the artists themselves choose which of the works they have spent the residency exploring in depth will be performed in the weekend concerts. The retreat has shaped the chamber music world for decades, notably giving rise to the Guarneri String Quartet, formed there in 1964.
