Encuentro de Jaraneros y Decimistas

The Encuentro de Jaraneros y Decimistas takes place in the historic center of Tlacotalpan, Veracruz, during the Candlemas festivities between January and February. Founded in 1979 following a radio tribute to Agustín Lara, it brings together musicians and poets around son jarocho and its sung décima verse form, with concerts and fandangos held on Plaza de Doña Martha and Parque Zaragoza. The gathering unfolds in a UNESCO World Heritage town and is accompanied by workshops, talks and a craft market.
