About
Festa do Avante! is held each year at Quinta da Atalaia in Amora, near Lisbon, Portugal. Founded in 1976 by the Portuguese Communist Party, it combines live music on several stages (Portuguese and international acts spanning pop, rock, fado and world music) with political debates, film screenings, food stalls and exhibitions. It stands as the country's largest political and cultural gathering, drawing tens of thousands of visitors over a three day weekend in early September.
