About
The Amougies festival, known as the Actuel Festival, ran from 24 to 28 October 1969 in this Hainaut village, after France banned the sites originally planned near Paris. Organised by the BYG label and Actuel magazine, it mixed pop and free jazz, featuring Pink Floyd, Yes, Soft Machine, Archie Shepp and Zappa as master of ceremonies, before a crowd of 70,000 to 100,000.
