Festival de Choro

The Festival de Choro takes place in Paris and brings together musicians and enthusiasts around choro, an instrumental popular music genre born in nineteenth century Rio de Janeiro. Organized by the Club du Choro de Paris, active since 2001, it offers concerts, workshops and encounters that highlight the virtuosity, improvisation and counterpoint typical of this Brazilian repertoire. The event is part of an ongoing effort to pass on the tradition, with regular classes and ties to conservatories.
