Festival de la Canción de La Serena

The Festival de la Canción de La Serena was launched in 2004 in the Chilean coastal city of La Serena, directly inspired by the well known Viña del Mar International Song Festival. It was held first at Estadio La Portada and later by the seafront near the city's monumental lighthouse, bringing together Chilean and international performers in a song-competition format. The event was discontinued in the late 2000s after the municipality deemed its production costs too high.
