Festival de la Porta Ferrada

Founded in 1958 in Sant Feliu de Guíxols on the Costa Brava, it is the oldest summer festival in Catalonia. It takes its name from the Porta Ferrada, a fortified 10th century gate by the town's Benedictine monastery, in front of which concerts were originally staged. Long centred on classical music, it now spans the municipal theatre, the monastery church and a harbourside space.
