About
The Festival de Música Coral Renascentista, named after choir conductor Gil de Roca Sales, has been held since 2017 at the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows in Porto Alegre. It brings together a cappella vocal ensembles performing sacred and secular Renaissance polyphony (15th and 16th centuries), with composers such as Palestrina, Josquin des Prez, Monteverdi and Orlando di Lasso. Spread over several concerts, the event draws around 1,500 attendees and honors the legacy of choral conductor Gil de Roca Sales.
