About
The Festival de Ópera do Paraná, based in Curitiba, was founded in 2015 by musician Gehad Ismail Hajar with the aim of democratizing opera. Free to attend, it stages lyric works in Portuguese, including local creations, not only in theaters but also in streets, squares, markets and public schools across the state of Paraná. It is regarded as Brazil's largest opera event and the only one of its kind producing works in Portuguese.
