Festival del Velero

Founded in the early 1990s in Huasco, on the Atacama coast of Chile, this free festival runs for two days, usually in the second week of February, at the town's seaside amphitheater. It combines a singing contest featuring representatives from various Chilean communes competing for the Velero trophy with performances by national and international guest artists, and has grown into a leading music event in the region.
