Overview
About
Founded in 1965 by professor José Sant'anna, this festival gathers dozens of folk groups from across Brazil each year in Olímpia, São Paulo state, at the historic Recinto do Folclore grounds. Regarded as one of Brazil's largest popular culture gatherings, it is entirely free and spotlights a different Brazilian state each edition. Olímpia has become known nationally as the country's folklore capital as a result.
