About
Held in Neiva, capital of Colombia's Huila department, the Festival Folclórico y Reinado Nacional del Bambuco grew out of the old Saints Peter and Paul feast celebrations in the 1960s and was declared national cultural heritage by Colombia's Congress in 2006. Taking place each year in late June, it combines a folkloric festival, a bambuco beauty pageant and an international folklore exposition, celebrating the music and dance of bambuco, a genre emblematic of south-central Colombia.
