About
Festival International de Louisiane was launched in 1987 in Lafayette, during the oil-price crash that hit the local economy, as a way to boost cultural tourism in the region. Free to attend and held every spring, it programmes Cajun, Creole and zydeco music across multiple stages alongside artists from Canada, France, Belgium and French-speaking Africa. It draws several hundred thousand visitors each year and ranks among the largest French-language music festivals in the United States.
