Festival Maritim

Festival Maritim takes place every first weekend of August in Bremen-Vegesack, along the Weser river in Germany. Billed as the country's largest sea shanty and maritime music festival, it brings together around thirty bands from countries such as England, Scotland, Ireland, France and the Netherlands across eight open air stages, ranging from Celtic rock to Irish and Scottish folk and gentle sea ballads. Drawing roughly 120,000 visitors, the event also features a pirate themed playground and food and craft stalls, and closes with a choreographed fireworks display over the river.
