Overview
About
This song contest, held in Mexico City in the late 1960s with the backing of the Mexican government, was open to performers from Latin American and Latin European countries singing in Romance languages (Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian). It is regarded as the direct forerunner of the OTI Festival, which later took up its format on a larger scale. Winners included Puerto Rico's Lucecita Benítez and Brazil's Cláudya.
