Festival Nacional da Canção

Founded in 1971 in the wake of Brazil's major televised song contests that launched many national talents, the Festival Nacional da Canção runs each year between June and September across several towns in Minas Gerais before its grand final in Boa Esperança. Open to unpublished songs in Portuguese across any style, it is regarded as one of Brazil's most important song festivals.
