About
The Festival Nacional de Bandas de Música is held every year in Oruro, Bolivia, on the Saturday before the final day of the Oruro Carnival, itself recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Thousands of brass band musicians from across the country parade in outfits in the colours of the Bolivian flag, performing pieces honouring the Virgin of Socavón alongside national and international music, accompanied by dancers. Declared national cultural heritage under Law 3611 of 2007, it is one of Bolivia's most representative cultural events.
