About
The Festival Nacional de la Tonada takes place in February in Tunuyán, in Argentina's Mendoza province, at the town's municipal amphitheater. Founded in 1972 by Víctor Humberto Pizarro near the Manzano Histórico, it celebrates the tonada, a lyrical, sentimental song style typical of Mendoza, San Juan and San Luis, alongside folk music from other Argentine regions. Drawing over 100,000 people across four nights each year, the event is preceded by the crowning of the national tonada queen.
