Fiesta del Tambor

Fiesta del Tambor has taken place in Havana since 2000, founded by percussionist Giraldo Piloto in memory of Guillermo Barreto, usually during the first week of March. This Afro-Cuban percussion festival brings together Cuban singers, dancers and drummers for nightly concerts, a national youth talent competition and percussion workshops open to visitors from abroad. It celebrates Afro-Cuban and Caribbean rhythmic heritage through rumba, batá and other drumming traditions.
