Gărâna Jazz Festival

Launched in 1996 in the small village of Gărâna, in Romania's Western Carpathians, this jazz festival runs over four days in July, set amid nature in a forest clearing of the Semenic mountains. Its open-air main stage at Poiana Lupului, surrounded by forest and mountain scenery, has earned it the nickname of a local 'Woodstock'. It ranks among Europe's most distinctive jazz gatherings for its natural setting.
