Founded in 1978 by musicologist Richard Steinitz, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival takes place across several venues in this Yorkshire town, including the Town Hall and the University of Huddersfield. Devoted to contemporary and experimental music with an emphasis on premieres, it has hosted composers such as Stockhausen, Steve Reich and Lachenmann.
