About
The Folklore Festival Východná is held every year on the first weekend of July in the Slovak village of the same name, on the edge of the High and Low Tatra mountains. Founded in 1953, it is Slovakia's oldest and largest nationwide folklore festival with international participation, bringing together up to 2,000 performers of traditional music, dance and theatre before around 70,000 visitors. Recognized as intangible cultural heritage, it also features exhibitions, craft workshops and folk dance and singing schools.
