Founded in 1975 by graphic designer Niklaus Troxler, Jazz Festival Willisau became a reference for avant-garde jazz and improvised music, hosting figures such as Cecil Taylor and Archie Shepp at its first edition. Concerts take place in the small municipality of Willisau, in the canton of Lucerne, notably at the Halle venue and under a tent.
