Kriol Jazz Festival

The Kriol Jazz Festival takes place over three days in Praia, on Cabo Verde's Santiago island. Founded in 2009, it has grown into one of the world's most recognised jazz gatherings, pairing Creole musical traditions like morna and coladeira with international jazz. Artists such as Salif Keita, Esperanza Spalding, Seu Jorge, Richard Bona and Manu Dibango have performed there, with local Cabo Verdean acts traditionally opening for international headliners; the opening night is usually free and open to the public.
