Lençóis Jazz & Blues Festival

Lençóis Jazz e Blues Festival was founded in 2009 in Barreirinhas, in the Brazilian state of Maranhão, under the direction of musician Tutuca Viana, becoming the region's pioneering event of its kind. Devoted to jazz, blues and Brazilian instrumental music, it stages free concerts on the banks of the Rio Preguiças as well as dates in São Luís, bringing together established and up-and-coming national and international artists. Free admission keeps it an accessible fixture in a region known for its dune fields.
