Monterey Jazz Festival in Noto

The Monterey Jazz Festival in Noto has been held in Nanao, in Ishikawa Prefecture, since 1989 as part of a cultural exchange with Monterey, California, its sister city. It is the only festival in the world permitted to use the name of the famed Monterey Jazz Festival, one of the world's three major jazz gatherings. Each edition welcomes a high school big band from Monterey for homestays and joint performances with local student groups.
