National Youth Jazz Festival

Established in 1992 and linked since 2004 to the National Arts Festival in Makhanda (formerly Grahamstown), this South African festival is hosted on the campus of the Diocesan School for Girls and brings together several hundred young jazz musicians alongside educators and established performers from dozens of countries. Conceived as much as a training programme as a showcase, it combines concerts, workshops and cross-generational exchange. It has become one of the country's key jazz development initiatives.
