Opernfestspiel Kyōto

The Kyoto Opera Festival has taken place in Kyoto since 2013, born from a partnership between the city and Bologna's Teatro Comunale. Performances are staged in iconic settings around the city, including the Kiyomizu-dera temple, which hosted an opera for the first time in its long history. The festival brings together Italian and Japanese artists with support from local authorities.
