Phono 73

Phono 73 was a music festival staged by the Phonogram label (now Universal) at the Anhembi Convention Center in São Paulo in May 1973. It brought together nearly the label's entire artist roster, including Chico Buarque, Elis Regina, Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil, Jorge Ben, Os Mutantes and Raul Seixas, each performing past hits, one new song and a duet with an artist from a different genre. Conceived as a promotional showcase, it took on a strong political charge under Brazil's military dictatorship and is remembered as a landmark moment for Brazilian popular music (MPB).
