About
The Piedra Roja Festival, also known as the Festival de Los Dominicos, took place in October 1970 in the Las Condes district of Santiago, Chile, organized by young enthusiasts in the wake of Woodstock. As the country's first major free rock gathering, it featured bands such as Los Jaivas, Los Blops, Los Trapos and Aguaturbia before a crowd steeped in the era's hippie spirit. Despite its chaotic conditions, it remains remembered in Chile as the moment rock counterculture became a social phenomenon, on the eve of the political upheavals of the 1970s.
