Overview

About

Founded in 1956 by Richard Crum and Reverend John Schlicht with backing from Duquesne University, the Pittsburgh Folk Festival is the city's largest multicultural celebration. Held annually around Labor Day weekend, it brings together more than thirty ethnic communities showcasing traditional music, dance, crafts and food from their heritage countries. Run by a nonprofit organization, the festival is built around the motto "Unity in Diversity."
