Overview
About
The Puccini Festival takes place every summer in Torre del Lago, Tuscany, on the shores of Lake Massaciuccoli where the composer lived and wrote much of his work. Founded in 1930, it is the only festival in the world entirely devoted to Giacomo Puccini, staging his best known operas such as Tosca, La Bohème, Madama Butterfly and Turandot. Performances are held outdoors at the Gran Teatro Giacomo Puccini, an amphitheater built facing the lake that gives productions a distinctive scenic backdrop.
