Sardanes

The Festival de Sardanes in Céret, in the Pyrénées Orientales, takes place across the streets of this Catalan town, with a highlight in the local arena. It brings together colles (dance troupes) and coblas (traditional orchestras) around the sardana, a dance regarded as a symbol of Catalan identity. The competition closes with the Germanor, a fraternal circle uniting around 500 dancers.
