About
Spoleto Festival USA takes place each spring in Charleston, South Carolina, founded in 1977 by composer Gian Carlo Menotti as an American counterpart to the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy. Over about two and a half weeks, it fills the city's historic theaters, churches and outdoor spaces with performances spanning opera, dance, theater, and classical, choral and jazz music. The program blends established artists with emerging talent.
