Summartónar

Summartónar is a festival of classical and contemporary music organized by the Association of Faroese Composers, held in Tórshavn and several other locations across the Faroe Islands. Founded in 1992, it does not center on a single prestigious venue but spreads across churches, museums, cultural centres and community halls throughout the islands. Under the artistic direction of pianist and composer Kristian Blak, the programme resists genre boundaries, blending contemporary composition, jazz, world music and Faroese folk traditions, with many world premieres.
