About
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo takes place every August on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle, Scotland, as part of the city's summer festivals. Growing out of military displays first staged in 1949, it has run since 1950, bringing together military bands, pipe bands and performance troupes from the UK and around the world for a show combining music, dance and precision drill. Watched by hundreds of thousands in person each year and tens of millions on television, it is one of Edinburgh's most iconic summer events.
