About
Founded in 1968 by Lars Lystedt following a Louis Armstrong concert in the city, Umeå Jazz Festival ranks among Scandinavia's oldest jazz festivals. It takes place each year in this city on Sweden's northeastern coast and has, over the decades, hosted major jazz figures such as Keith Jarrett, Charles Lloyd and Herbie Hancock.
